Today, I learned that Sprint will be releasing the long awaited Apple iPhone5 on its network, and throwing in its unlimited 4G data plan. I've been a Sprint customer for many years, with a business account attached to multiple phones. I use most of their upgraded services for my line of work. I'm happy with my Samsung Epic 4G as a pocket computer and take advantage of the mobile Hotspot whenever I'm on-the-go. However, my phone signal has been poor -- frequently dropping calls from my house, office and car.
Ironically, just last week, after I dropped 3 important business calls in one day, I went straight to Costco to pick-up the new Blackberry Bold 9930 and opened up a new Verizon account. It's costing me an extra $100/month, but I figured it's a better solution than adding new landlines at my residence and office. And what would I do for the calls I take while on-the-go? Plus, I have 14-days to try this out and we'll see if Verizon will save my business calls. So far, so amazingly great that I have a real phone. (Honestly, I didn't have to get the Blackberry. I was expecting to get one of those old-style flip-phones since I'd be carrying 2 phones at all times -- my Sprint and Verizon.)
Anyway, back to Sprint and their iPhone5 announcement. This is just a thought, but perhaps Sprint ought to treat their existing customers to some perks this month to assist in the success of this new launch. Last night, I received 3 inquiries from friends asking me if I liked my service with Sprint. Two were iPhone owners with AT&T and one was a Blackberry fanatic from Verizon. All of them were working professionals and interested with the unlimited 4G plan (in addition to the obvious iPhone5 perk).
So guess what, Sprint, your existing customers are your most powerful promotional tool -- better than Yelp. A Facebook/Twitter post on how happy/disappointed we are with the service can make a potential new customer pause. Give us great phone signals and help us help you impress our friends.
